The Liar by Ayelet Gundar-Goshen tells the story of a teenage girl named Nofar who feels invisible. After she tells a lie that grows out of control, she is recognized everywhere she goes. In Part 2, senior citizen Raymonde tells a lie that gains her immediate respect at a great cost. As the plot twists and turns, it may be too late for Nofar and Raymonde to set the record straight.
This book is translated from Hebrew. It’s beautifully written and makes the reader question the morality of the characters’ decisions while feeling deep empathy for their struggles. Highly recommended!
