Set in Cape Neddick, Maine tells the story of three generations and how they deal with the challenges in their lives. Alice, the matriarch, is adjusting to life as a widow and grappling with the decisions her children make as well as decisions she regrets from her past. Kathleen, the free-spirit of the family, hasn’t been to Maine in a decade. Her daughter, Maggie, is dealing with a life-changing secret. When all of them find themselves at their camp one summer, they must confront their pasts and try to figure out how to move forward as a family.
It was interesting to read a book set in Maine from the perspective of a summer person. The family dynamics between three generations made for a compelling read.
