Early Literacy

Why is early literacy so important? The skills that young children learn in their pre-school years have been shown to help them dramatically when they enter kindergarten.

The library is committed to working with area schools and early literacy groups to insure that our young library users have the resources and programs to develop these skills.

From our Laptime programs for babies and toddlers on Fridays at 10 am to our Tuesday story time for 4 to 5 year olds, our Thursday story times for 2 to 3 year olds and our Wednesday night Pajama story times for all ages, we encourage development of motor skills, coordination, and reading to help children be reading ready when they go to school.
