If you happen to be searching for a swashbuckling YA adventure to sweep you away, then look no further! Alosa, the daughter of the much-feared pirate king, has been ordered by her father to find the missing piece of a treasure map and to do whatever it takes to get it. But she may get more than she bargained for when she leaves her all-female pirate crew and allows herself to be captured in order to search the enemy’s ship. A vile and heartless enemy captain, scores of crewmen harassing her, a cold dirty cell in the brig, constant hitches in her plan, and feelings that might not be hate for the captain’s surprisingly decent brother, all complicate matters most inconveniently for Alosa as she works against the clock to find the map piece and return to her father, without being found out by the enemy. Alosa is a seriously kick-butt heroine who will stop at nothing to finish what she started and never lets men get in her way. She’s not only intelligent and cunning, she was trained by her father and his men to fight so she needs no help in taking down her assailants. Unbeknownst to the enemy pirates, the feisty Alosa has a personality as fiery as her hair and may well give them a run for their money! Not to mention that she may have magical powers yet to be fully honed to aid her in her quest. This is another YA that I could not put down, and I practically devoured it in one sitting. Elements of fantasy, historical fiction, and seafaring adventure combine perfectly in this novel which is sure to become an instant classic.
