A Trek in Switzerland with Michael Riley

Ellsworth resident Michael Riley will give a matinee presentation about his long-distance trek through Switzerland on the Trans-Swiss Trail on Saturday, April 20th at 10:00 AM.
“A Trek in Switzerland” follows Riley’s travels from Porrentruy in northwest Switzerland to Gotthard Pass in southeast Switzerland, almost to Italy. Riley hiked from Sept. 4-27, 2023, staying at campgrounds and farms in the Jura Mountains, across the Swiss plateau and into the Alps. He walked 220 miles in 23 days. Riley is newly retired from The Ellsworth American after 42 years, the last several as a photo editor. He is an avid hiker, backpacker, bicyclist and artist.
